About Us
Alison Clarke is a Chartered and State Registered Physiotherapist with over 20 years experience of treating pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. She understands how distressing these conditions can be and offers a sensitive approach to treatment.
Alison graduated as a physiotherapist from Glasgow in 1988, and developed an interest in pelvic floor rehabilitation early on in her career. She was fortunate to work with a community nursing colleague who shared her interest, and together with a GP colleague (both now retired) set up the first multidisciplinary pelvic floor clinic in Highland.
She gained a post graduate certificate in "Continence for Physiotherapists" in 2011 following 18 months of study through Bradford University, graduating with merit. Since then she has worked as specialist in pelvic floor rehabilitation within the NHS (one of only 6 in Highland), a post she recently retired from. Until recently she held the post of Research Reviews Editor for the Pelvic Obstetric and Gynaecological Physiotherapy Journal, and she continues to remain up to date with current research in the field. She also regularly attends courses and conferences.
