Pelvic physiotherapy is specialist treatment for the pelvic floor. This is the muscle which fills in the base of the bony pelvis, and holds your insides up! The pelvic floor muscle has an important role in helping to maintain continence and in guiding the baby's head through in childbirth. It can be weakened with pregnancy, childbirth, heavy lifting or constipation, and sometimes the stresses and strains of life or previous trauma can cause the muscle to become tense and painful, giving symptoms of: -Urinary incontinence -Bowel (faecal) incontinence -Constipation -Pelvic Organ Prolapse (in women) -Pelvic pain affecting both men and women (also known as CPPS - chronic pelvic pain sundrome, sometimes also called chronic prostatitis in men) -Dyspareunia (painful sexual intercourse)
Both women and men can be treated. A combination of therapies including exercise, biofeedback, trigger point therapy / myofascial release, relaxation and breathing techniques can be used.
Treatment is currently offered in The Treatment Room, Invergordon Leisure Centre, IV18 0LB
Appointments are at times to suit clients.
Prices are £70 for first assessment, and £45 for return appointments.
